About Twilio Programmable Voice

Twilio Programmable Voice enables organizations to build a custom call experience using a scalable API, and control communication using code. Users can embed calling into any application to enable conversations via any platform. The Twilio Voice API allows users to manage and route calls to an app, a browser, a mobile or landline phone, or anywhere else possible. Users can perform quality calls with clear audio and low latency, as well as monitor calls worldwide. With Twilio Programmable Voice, users can create new lines of communication by embedding PSTN, SIP, or VoIP calling into any website, app, or service, and build experiences using an HTTP request and the Voice API. Voice features include audio recordings, custom audio prompts, call routing based on keypad inputs or DTMF tones, conference calling with up to 250 participants, a queue manager, and more. Users are able to connect mobile and landline calls, web-based VoIP with Javascript, and mobile VoIP with Android and iOS. Twilio Programmable Voice enables users to write, modify and deploy voice flows, or use the Twilio Studio visual application editor to drag and drop pre-built widgets to create a responsive IVR. Studio includes out–of–the–box templates which can perform common tasks such as forwarding calls, sending notifications, and automatically replying via SMS. Users can trigger appointment reminders, deploy an autoresponder, setup call forwarding, and more using Twilio's built–in automation which automatically scales to traffic spikes.

Benefits

With Twilio's Voice API, conversations can happen anywhere. Users are able to manage and route voice calls to an app, a browser, a mobile or landline phone, or anywhere else.

Avoid having to break up the natural rhythm of calls. Twilio routes calls to the closest data center worldwide, to deliver clear audio and low latency quality calls.

Determine if an outbound voice API call has been answered by a human, an answering machine or a fax machine, and tailor the call flow accordingly.

Skills-based routing via Twilio's TaskRouter enables users to route incoming calls to the people that can best handle them.

Get real-time insight into jitter, packet loss, and post-dial delay on every call with tools for call quality monitoring and insights.
