Benefits
Highly Interoperable
DraftSight is a highly interoperable 2D CAD design and drafting solution. It supports a wide variety of file formats. For instance, users will be able to attach image files with different file formats to their drawings (e.g., .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .tif, and .tiff. They will also be able to save or export the drawings into various image file formats. The solution can import DGN files that users can edit directly within the software.
PDF Underlay
The software provides a feature called PDF Underlay. With this feature, users can attach multiple pages of PDF documents to their drawings. To be able to do this, they have to use the AttachPDF command.
Cartesian Coordinate System
One of the noticeable features offered by DraftSight is its user environment called Cartesian coordinate system. This system is comprised of numerical coordinates which help users organize items and determine the lengths of those items accurately.
Entities
DraftSight is built with entities which allow users to add special displays and setups to drawings. Thus, as they create their drawings, they will be able to include arcs and lines, hyperlinks, tables, points, masks, blocks, tolerances and other entities.
Customize And Automate Using APIs
To wrap it up, DraftSight has APIs which can be used to customize and automate the software. Thus, users can take advantage of these APIs to speed up the drawing process and enhance DraftSight so it will function according to their needs.
